MPES new student tour

Come on in,” Meadow Pond Elementary School’s Assistant Principal David Bournas-Ney said to the students peeking through the door. “You can be the very first ones to sit on these chairs!”

Mr. Bournas-Ney and Principal Ashlyn Field were leading a New Student Orientation at the Pond, one of three similar tours taking place at the District’s elementary schools that morning. Each was designed to introduce new-to-KLSD families to their school's learning environment, school staff and future classmates.

“New” was one of the themes of the Meadow Pond tour. The chairs Mr. Bournas-Ney was referring to were new, as was all of the furniture in the classroom and throughout most of the school. There was also brand-new flooring in most of the rooms. The common spaces in the wings also had new ductwork for air conditioning and new lighting.

“The new and improved spaces at Meadow Pond are going to provide an exciting, enriching learning environment for all our students, teachers and staff,” said Principal Ashlyn Field.
