If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” author Laura Numeroff visited Meadow Pond Elementary on September 27! In three separate grade-appropriate presentations, she read one of her books to the students, and shared some of the small, everyday moments that inspired her bestselling picture books.
Numeroff told students that her best friend’s parents bought the best snacks. Her fond memories of munching Cheetos at their house sparked the idea for “Would I Trade My Parents?”
She also showed students photos of her pets, including her first horse. When her horse lost its shoe, she began thinking of a pony-based twist to the Cinderella story … and “Ponyella” was born.
When students asked her which one of her books was her favorite, she answered, “’Raising a Hero,’ about a little boy raising a puppy to be a service dog.”
Thank you to the Meadow Pond PTO for arranging for this wonderful program.
