identity webs

Creating identity webs with parents and caregivers is a kindergarten tradition at the Pond. Loved ones prompt, then listen, as kindergarteners name what is important to them. Soon, with their grown up’s help, each student’s paper is filled with drawings and words naming favorite foods, family traditions, special outings and more.

Kindergarten teachers said that the goal of creating identity webs is for the young students to know and like who they are and be able to talk about different parts of themselves and their families.

At the end of the session, students hug their adults and bring their identity webs back to the classroom. The work would be used in many ways, including in the social studies unit All About Me.
