Another last-day of school tradition at Meadow Pond brought fifth grade graduates and JJHS Class of 2026 graduates together for a parade through the halls, cheered on side by side.
Our Moose are on the move! Congratulations to the Meadow Pond fifth graders on their moving up ceremony and best wishes as they continue their journey at JJMS.
A little friendly competition was the perfect way to wrap up the year at MPES. 🏐

A warm welcome to the future Wolves! 🐺 The newly trained JJMS Peer Leaders helped make sixth-grade orientation a success, guiding current fifth graders through the building and sharing what they can expect as they begin their middle school journey.
The golden tickets led straight to the MPES stage 🍫🎭 MPES 5th graders presented Willy Wonka Jr. the musical.
Traditional Chinese dance performance at MPES. Students experienced the artistry and movement of the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company. For the grand finale they took to the stage and joined the performers.
💜They understood the assignment 💜💛 Across KLSD, PTOs went ALL OUT for Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week, from breakfast spreads and catered lunches to themed days and many thoughtful surprises. Celebrating our teachers and staff who show up every day for our students. Thank you for all that you do.
🎙️Tiny Tasters podcast🎙️Second graders turned into food critics 🍽️✨They reviewed their favorite local spots, published a digital guide called "Tasty Places to Eat" on Book Creator, and took it one step further, recording podcasts in GarageBand to interview each other about their picks. Future critics in the making!

Exciting sustainability achievement 🌎 We are thrilled to announce that KLSD has received the New York State Green Ribbon Schools award! From solar power to cleaner transportation to a geothermal energy system, our efforts are making a big impact. Students are leading the way by advocating for climate policy, getting their hands dirty in the garden, and working with local conservation organizations.

Climate change and its real-world impact 🌎
MPES 5th graders participated in a climate change workshop with the PNW Boces Center for Environmental Education, learning how rising temperatures and sea levels are impacting both communities and wildlife, from increased flooding to changes in natural habitats. They also met Buffy the box turtle and saw how warmer winters have directly affected her.

Another Successful Sustainability Showcase 🌱🌎
On Tuesday evening, the district celebrated its sustainability progress and goals with student projects, examples of energy savings across the district, and even a tour on board one of the district’s electric buses.
Elementary school Green Teams showed off their efforts and older students shared research projects. These initiatives focused on recycling and waste reduction, protecting wildlife and habitats, and the impact of everyday choices on the environment, along with ecosystem models and builds created from reused materials. Our community partners joined the conversation with displays and a Q&A panel, highlighting conservation efforts, wildlife education, and sustainable practices.
